FAQ's
What is walkway auditing?
Walkway auditing is the evaluation and collection of data on a walkway surface to determine its coefficient of friction (slipperiness). There are multiple variables that affect this process such as a wet or dry surface, composition of the walkway, grain in the walkway material, contaminants, and testing materials.

Why is walkway auditing important?
Walkways in your organization are in a constant state of change with cleaning, chemical applications, foot traffic, contaminants, wear and repairs. The walkway surface is the one element you have the most control over with its composition and how it is maintained. It is very difficult to control the footwear of your employees and customers, contaminants and some environmental conditions. Much like having your financial books audited by an independent accountant or having an annual physical by a physician to monitor your health, walkway auditing can determine the quality of your walkway maintenance program as well as identify and prevent problems before they become liabilities.

What is unique about Traction Auditing, LLC? Traction Auditing, LLC
What is unique about Traction Auditing, LLC? Traction Auditing, LLC is an independent, third party walkway auditing company that is without bias or conflict of interest with the services it provides. We do not sell any flooring, chemicals, or treatments. We do not clean, maintain or replace floors. We do not own your floors and we do not set the standards to which your floors should be maintained. We provide a scientific approach to analyzing your walkways and determine if they meet the standard of high traction established by the National Floor Safety Institute. If they do not, we can help determine why, and provide unbiased recommendations to improve your walkways and subsequently decrease your risk of slip and fall events and injuries. We routinely re-audit to confirm and document your progress and proper maintenance program. This approach provides you with the best scenario to identify and eliminate walkway risks as well as reduce the potential liability risk if and when an injury or incident occurs.

Isn't my flooring surface tested by the manufacturer?
Probably, but their testing is done in their lab, not after installation in your facility. There are numerous factors that effect the walkway surface after it's "out of the box". The installation process, grout, residues, finishes, chemicals, cleaners, contaminants, foot traffic, inadequate maintenance and wear over time are a few of the factors that can change the dynamics of your walkway surfaces. The manufacturers lab testing cannot account for the multiple variables affecting your floors. The only way to monitor and verify adequate maintenance of your walkways and to identify potential risks in a timely manner is to perform routine independent walkway auditing by Traction Auditing, LLC as part of a comprehensive walkway maintenance program.

Why can't my organization do its own walkway auditing?
Traction Auditing, LLC recommends that your facilities manager internally monitor your walkway maintenance after the initial independent auditing analysis has been performed by Traction Auditing, LLC and any high risk areas have been properly addressed. Quarterly follow up audits by Traction Auditing, LLC should be performed to independently document and validate your proactive approach to safety for your employees and patrons as part of a comprehensive walkway management program. Based on your organizations size and needs, the Traction Auditing, LLC customized approach allows us to audit more or less frequently to provide the right level of service for your facility.
